I had an awesome opportunity to stay at the Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort this past October 2018–what a gorgeous resort! Last time I was in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, the Dreams resort was under construction, so I was thrilled to go back and see it completed. Dreams Playa Mujeres and it’s sister property next door, Secrets Playa Mujeres, are in a terrific location, tucked away in a gated community along a sugar-sand private beach outside Cancun. Beautiful, beautiful beach for relaxing and swimming! The staff, food, rooms, pools were excellent. I LOVED the Baracuda Bar next door at Secrets–great drinksI I would highly recommend it as a family friendly resort, and the Secrets Playa Mujeres is a great place for adults-only. My stay just happened to coincide with Halloween and the Day of the Dead, and we had so much fun with the festivities at the resort. Some other guests dressed in costume, but most of the fun came from the staff at the resort. From a nighttime parade through the resort with a mariachi band, to costumed wait staff, tequila tastings, and decorations, you could feel the celebration all throughout our stay. Day of the Dead is a huge, special celebration in Mexico honoring family and friends who have died and their spiritual journey. It was beautiful to learn more about it while we were in Mexico. And it was nice not to feel like we were missing Halloween back home in Michigan!
